Joan C McMillian Obituary (1943 - 2015)

CHELMSFORD Joan C. (Malsbenden) McMillian, 71, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 19, 2015. She was the beloved wife of Marvin G. Mac McMillian to whom she had been married for 49 years. She was born in Somerville, MA on November 6, 1943 and was a daughter of the late John and Esther (Whittaker) Malsbenden. Prior to her retirement, Joan was employed as a bus driver and trainer for over 40 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, helping others, going to the theater, listening to music, swimming, bowling, skiing, walking, hiking, and riding bicycles as well as motorcycling with her husband. Joan was an active parishioner at St. Mary Parish where she had been a Eucharistic Minister. In addition to her loving husband, Joan is survived by her children; Steven McMillian and his wife Lisa (Gould) McMillian of Tabernacle, NJ, Robert McMillian of Dracut, Deena McMillian of Chelmsford, and John McMillian and his wife Jennifer (Wall) McMillian of Groton; four grandchildren; Conor Griffin, Chase Griffin, Corin McMillian, and Ryan McMillian; a great grandchild, Aiden Griffin. She was the sister of the late Teresa Kenney of Littleton. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 until 8pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 oclock on Friday at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, Joans family would encourage everyone to Pay it Forward, as she so often did.
