Laurel 'Laurie' A Carr Obituary (1957 - 2015)

CHELMSFORD Laurel A. Laurie (Rizzo) Carr, age 57, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved mother of her two sons Ryan and Kenneth, and the wife of Robert M. Carr. She was born in Waltham on December 18, 1957, and was the daughter of Leida (Erik) Rizzo of Waltham and the late Edward Rizzo. She was a graduate of Waltham High School. Laurie's passion and empathy in caring for the well being of the elderly and for those that could not care for themselves, inspired a 30 year nursing career devoting her life to helping those that needed it most. She was employed for many years as a nurse by TLC Home Healthcare in Newton. Earlier in her career she was employed by Brookhaven at Lexington. Laurie enjoyed laughing with family and friends, spending time in Maine, and had a devoted passion for all animals, especially her family pets throughout the years. Most importantly, she took great pride in supporting the many social activities of her sons throughout their lives. In addition to her two children, husband and mother, Laurie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Michael Reardon of Londonderry, NH; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lauries memory to the center of Melanoma Oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215. Visitation will be held at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford on Sunday from 5 to 8 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 oclock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment will be private.
