Mary Elaine Philbrook Obituary (1946 - 2013)

TYNGSBORO Mary E. (Drury) Philbrook, 67, sadly passed away when the chimes sounded midnight March 26, 2013 after a 2 year battle with cancer. Born February 26, 1946 in New Hope, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Stoy and Anna Lula (Cahoe) Drury. Mary lived in Pleasure Ridge Park, Kentucky until 1964 when she married her husband David Philbrook and moved to Chelmsford, MA. In 1978 she moved to Tyngsboro, MA where Mary and David raised their family. Mary worked mostly in the computer industry beginning as an electronic assembler and later in data entry. She started at Davox Corporation and Eltec Corporation and retired from GES New England in 2011. Mary was also on several bowling leagues including the 71 mixers, and finally the womens league at the Brunswick Bowling Alley in Lowell, MA. Mary has retained many friends from her career and her years of bowling. Over the years Mary enjoyed playing bingo, planting her flowers, and being at their summer home on the lake in Smithfield, Maine. Mary also enjoyed knitting, reading, playing card games on her computer and going to the casinos with her lady friends and her family. In addition to her husband of 49 years, David A. Philbrook, Mary leaves her daughter Evelyn LaFerriere, wife of the late Michael LaFerriere of Dracut, MA, her sons; Forrest B. Philbrook and his wife Michelle of Litchfield, NH, and David S. Philbrook and his companion Jodie of Dracut, MA 6 wonderful grandchildren; Thomas and Robert Philbrook of Litchfield, NH, Sarah and Nancy LaFerriere of Dracut, MA and Kaila Philbrook and Adrienne Reynolds of Tyngsboro, MA. In addition Mary leaves three sisters; Norietta, Arlene, and Libby and their husbands Bill, Charlie, and Dennis, and a brother Tony and his wife Susan, all from Kentucky. Mary was predeceased by three brothers; Danny, Joe, and Alan also from Kentucky. Visiting hours will be on Saturday from 1 to 4 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD, MA followed by a brief prayer service at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Greater Lowell, 336 Central St., Lowell, MA 01852.
