Meralyn L. Hand Obituary (1931

CHELMSFORD - Meralyn L. (Martin) Hand, age 81, a resident of Chelmsford, and a former longtime resident of Lowell, died on September 20, 2012 at the Westford House Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert K. Hand who died in 1980. She was born in Lowell on September 5, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Leo S. and Lena (Mallon) Martin. Meralyn was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Lowell and Lowell Commercial College. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Earlier in her career she was employed by Chelmsford Medical Associates. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Parish in Chelmsford. Meralyn was an avid reader who also enjoyed traveling and doing arts and crafts. Above all, she cherished spending time in the company of her loving family. Meralyn is survived by three sons and a daughter, and their spouses: Stephen Hand and his wife Diane of Littleton, Robert Hand and his wife Joyce of N. Chelmsford, Alan Hand and his wife Cathy of Westford, Kathy David and her husband Jeff of Chelmsford; 8 grandchildren; Nathan and Erika Hand, Jeremy Hand, Anna Hand, Kara and Ryan Frink, Katelyn David, Ryan Lynn Hand, Christopher Hand, and Jennifer Hand, 5 great grandchildren, a sister Joyce Shanley of Lowell, and many nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Matthew David and sister of the late Kenneth and Earl Martin. At her request there will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Monday at 11 oclock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Please meet at church. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of her grandson Matthew to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, P.O. Box 73, Mansfield, MA 02048.
