Michael P. 'Mike' Ortolano Obituary (1959

BRIGHTON, MA - Michael P. "Mike" Ortolano, 52, a resident of Brighton and former resident of Chelmsford, died Thursday, August 4th at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, following a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston on May 8, 1959, and was a son of the late Mary E. Walsh and Angelo J. Ortolano and his wife Doris Kidd of Chelmsford. He was a graduate of Chelmsford High School. A talented and accomplished producer of radio and television, Mike started his career at the famed Boston radio station WBCN. He then went on to become a producer for John Garabedian's Open House Party, a radio show that was syndicated to over 150 radio stations throughout North America. Mike later worked with John as a producer for his music and youth oriented cable television station XY.tv. He produced and assisted with the production of music videos of several local and national artists. He also managed several properties in Greater Boston. Mike was an avid Red Sox Fan and in his free time he enjoyed writing, producing, and playing music, riding his motorcycle, traveling to South Beach, Miami, and cruising on the Charles River into Boston harbor on his boat with friends and family. Mike had a quick wit and enjoyed entertaining. He was devoted to his family, especially his nieces and nephews, who adored him. His friends were also a very big part of his life and his family will always be grateful for their love and friendship to Mike, throughout his life and especially during his illness. In addition to his father and step-mother, Mike is survived by four brothers, Joe Ortolano of Salt Lake City, UT, Bob Ortolano and his wife Lisa of Chelmsford, Paul Ortolano of N. Chelmsford, and David Ortolano of Boulder, CO; five sisters Mary Hamelin and her husband Joe of Groton, Ann Budd and her husband Bruce of Deltona, FL, Joan Ortolano and her husband Isaac Sanz of Madrid, Spain, Barbara Cronin and her husband James of Pepperell; and Kathleen Schiavone and her husband Lou of Merrimack, NH; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. It being his wish, there will be no visitation. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 1PM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 28 Tarbell St., Pepperell, MA. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's name to the charity of one's choice.
