Nelson G. Powers Obituary (1948 - 2015)

CHELMSFORD Nelson Gatch Powers, age 67, a resident of Chelmsford and former resident of Westford died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center following a long illness. He was born in New York City, NY on June 6, 1948, and was a son of the late Edward and Olive (Gatch) Powers. He was a graduate of Hebron Academy in Hebron, ME and earned his bachelors degree in finance from New York University. Nelson was a successful financial advisor for many years. He was very proud of his son Neil and enjoyed attending his sporting events, especially football. He is survived by his son Neil Powers of Chelmsford; the mother of his son, Jessica Powers of West Hartford, CT; his step-children, Joseph Cady and his wife Flavia of Lowell and Elizabeth Galins and her husband Janis of Woodbury, CT, six grandchildren, Rebecca, Sabrina, and Nathaniel Cady, all of Lowell, and Ava, Sophia, and Marcus Galins, all of Woodbury, CT.; a brother Edward Powers of Boston; a sister, Mary Fowler Houston and her husband Randy of Center Harbor, NH; and a nephew, Jared Fowler of Tahoe, CA. He was also the uncle of the late Lua Ameden. It being his wish, there will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11 oclock at Christ Church United, UCC, in Lowell, 180 East Merrimack St., Lowell.
