Robert "Brad" Hudson Obituary (1957

Robert B. Hudson, affectionately known as Brad or Hubba, age 66, of Westford, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly on February 2, 2024. Brad was born in Lancaster, PA on October 19, 1957 to Robert A. and the late Nancy Hudson. As a young man he played football, earned his Eagle Scout, and played in multiple bands. Brad earned a degree in Accounting from Franklin and Marshall College and later a Masters degree in Business from the University of Phoenix. Brad then melded his entrepreneurial spirit, his love of music and a flair for business to make his dreams a reality. In the 1980s, he travelled the country as a touring merchandise manager for all of the best rock-n-roll bands. In the early 90s he started Rockshirts (Lancaster & Harrisburg, PA), concert merchandise stores. A few years later Brad became a partner at JSR Merchandising (Dover, NH), a merchandise manufacturing and selling partner to artists, bands, and entertainers. Through these endeavors he met and married the love of his life, Karen, moved to Westford, MA, and started a family. Brads larger-than-life personality and heart always led his way. After his retirement, his love of BBQ led to the creation of Hubbas Real Pit BBQ in Westford. It was truly a labor of love. He enjoyed every moment he shared with his customers, friends, and family at the BBQ trailer. He especially cherished the many hours he spent nurturing and bonding with his beloved son, Robbie, and grandson Jakob. His restless spirit, a profound belief in the interconnectedness of all things, and the healing powers of our universe also led him to Shamanism and the creation of Little Frog Healing. His loving and caring nature helped many people throughout the world who mourn his passing. Truly, his departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, a silence where once was the strum of his guitar and the laughter that followed his tales. Yet, in every smoked brisket that leaves the pits of Hubbas BBQ and every note played in earnest on a guitar, Brad's spirit lives on. In addition to his father, Brad is survived by his wife/life partner of 37 years, Karen (Lehecka/Dubois) Hudson, their son Robbie Hudson and stepdaughter, Jillian (Dubois) and her husband Charles Roy. He was the loving grandfather of five: Joseph (& Andrea), Jakob, Sophia, Catherine, and Charlie Roy; as well as two great-grandchildren: Noemi and Noah Roy. In addition, Brad is survived by his brothers Jeff (& Jennifer) Hudson, Bruce (& Elizabeth) Hudson and his sister Cheryl (& Lee) Kasun. His in-laws Catherine (& the late Thomas) Peters, Frances (& the late Charles) Lehecka, brothers and sisters in-law Barbara (& the late Michael) Scanzano, Jim Peters, Jeanne (& the late Rocky) Harrison, Janice (& Mike) Spadafore, and Matthew (& Amy) Link. Brad is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunts & uncles. Brad was predeceased by his mother, Nancy Hudson. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 2:00 6:00pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St. Chelmsford. His interment will be held privately. A Celebration of Life will be held in Lancaster, PA at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Brads name to The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research or to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
