Roberta 'Bobbe' J. Mabon Obituary (1943 - 2014)

CHELMSFORD Roberta Bobbe Jean Mabon, 71, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on September 17, 2014, in the company of her family. She was the beloved wife of Edwin A. Mabon for 48 years. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 4, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Burnett, and the younger sister of the late Dolores Porter. Bobbe was educated in the Ohio school system and she graduated from Parma High School in 1961. She married Edwin in 1966. They lived in Puerto Rico and then moved to Ohio and finally settled in Massachusetts, where they had 2 loving children. Bobbe worked for Sylvania, Sears and was a photographer for the Chelmsford Independent. Bobbe also had many hobbies and interests including quilting, sewing, photography, and stained glass work. She was a Samoyed dog breeder, and an avid reader who belonged to several book clubs over the years. Bobbe was a big fan of NASCAR and enjoyed watching races. She also loved to care for her grandchildren. In addition to her husband Edwin, Bobbe is survived by her two sons Christopher Mabon and his girlfriend Beth Whipple of Nashua, NH, Scott Mabon and his wife Laurel of Lunenburg, MA. Bobbe was the proud grandmother of Evelyn, Gracie, and Callen Mabon. Visitation will be held at Matthews Memorial Church, 128 Gorham St., Chelmsford on Friday from 10 until 11 am followed by her Funeral Service at 11 am at the church. Interment in West Chelmsford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bobbes memory to The Salvation Army of Greater Lowell, 150 Appleton St., Lowell, MA 01852.
