Rudolph D. Deanin Obituary (1921

Westford-Dr. Rudolph D. Deanin, PhD, age 90, a longtime resident of Westford, passed away on August 7, 2011 at Lowell General Hospital. He was born on June 7, 1921, and was a son of the late Zalman and Sonya (Dreskin) Deanin. Rudolph received his Bachelors Degree from Cornell University in 1941 and his PhD in Chemistry from The University of Illinois. He began his career at Allied Chemical Corp. in NJ in 1947. He left Allied in 1960 to become Director of Chemical Research and Development at DeBell & Richardson Corp., a major contract R&D house in Hazardville, CT. He began his career as a Professor of Plastics Engineering at The University of Massachusetts, Lowell in 1967, where two years later he was asked to begin a graduate studies program. For many years he taught full time while serving as graduate coordinator and supervisor of student research. He remained Director of the graduate program until his retirement in 2008. He leaves a legacy of hundreds of graduates on the BS, MS and Ph.D. level that have entered industry and academia. Professor Deanin leaves his wife, Joan, of 44 years, 2 daughters; Nancy Deanin of New York City, and Alice Deanin of New Jersey, and 3 grandsons. At his request, there will be no visitation and burial will be held at a later date.
