Ruth Ann O'Neil Obituary (1946 - 2025)

Ruth Ann ONeil, 78, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lowell on October 2, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Stirk) ONeil. Ruth was raised in Chelmsford and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School with the Class of 1964. She furthered her education at Mary Hitchcock in Hanover, NH where she earned her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse for many years in private practices in the Chelmsford area until her retirement. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Parish. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe, spending time in Maine, and cheering for the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family. Ruth leaves her brother Charles J. ONeil, Jr. and his wife Judy of Chelmsford, and her niece and nephews, Michael ONeil, Kelly ONeil, Richard ONeil, Kevin ONeil, and Christopher ONeil. Sadly, she was predeceased by her brother James F. ONeil and her nephew James ONeil. Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 4 pm 7 pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 9 am at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., CHELMSFORD. Interment to follow in St. Patricks Cemetery, LOWELL.
