Sandra L. D'Arcangelo, 78, a resident of Medford, formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at Winchester Hospital surrounded by her loving family and Friends.
She was born in Haverhill on November 4, 1946, the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Margaret E. (Mason) D'Arcangelo.
In 1964, she graduated from Haverhill High School and moved on to the Boston area, furthering her education and relishing city life. She was passionate about the arts: attended film school, was a natural at photography, and often raved of her trips to Egypt, Morocco, and Italy.
She also continued her education in the study of law; and in later years, enjoyed residing in the communities of Nahant, Everett, Cambridge, as well as Portland, ME.
Sandra's greatest loves, besides family, were her feline friends. She always had a cat or two in her life, most recently, Midnight and Mars, whom she loved and cared for dearly. She let them roam freely outdoors, aware of risks, but knew they'd be happiest climbing trees, chasing birds and sunbathing on fences. She made many friends in her North Cambridge neighborhood, as she'd often be outside calling her cats in or feeding the birds, rain or shine. In doing so, she shared stories with neighbors in her friendly, fun, aways kind and open style.
Sandra also loved fashion. Even when she was struggling with health issues, she'd be waiting for an Uber 'dressed to the nines' in Louis Vuitton coats and Gucci shoes and scarves. In summer, she always had her toenails painted pink, and her hair freshly cut short. Last winter, she ventured out in a fierce snowstorm to get to her neighborhood hair salon.
Sandra often reminisced about her large family, her three sisters, aunts and uncles and grandparents, growing up in Haverhill, Mass., and how she was the darling of her maternal grandmother Nellie Mason.
Sandra leaves her son, Damon D'Arcangelo of Bradford; her granddaughters, Donata and Amara D'Arcangelo of Lowell; her sisters, Sylvia D'Arcangelo of Sarasota, Florida; Margie Gove of Hamstead, New Hampshire; Susan D'Arcangelo of San Francisco, California; and her lifelong friend, Sharon Sinotte of Haverhill.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, September 5th at All Saints' Parish, 120 Bellevue Ave, Haverhill, MA 01832. Kindly gather at the church.
Memorial donations may be made in Sandra's name to the Gifford Cat Shelter, a free-roam, no-kill animal shelter, 30 Undine Road, Brighton, Mass. https://www.giffordcatshelter.org/donate.
