Serena MacKenzie Obituary (1936 - 2016)

CHELMSFORD- Serena MacKenzie, age 80, of Chelmsford, passed away on June 12, 2016 after a brief illness. She recently lived at The Atrium at Drum Hill where she was loved and cared for by the wonderful staff. Serena was raised in Mamaroneck, NY where she was a gifted athlete and a competitive swimmer, and later worked as a school teacher. Serena graduated from University of Vermont in 1957 with a bachelors degree in Education. She married Dave MacKenzie in 1959 and moved to Chelmsford, where they raised their three children and spent 54 wonderful years before Daves passing in 2013. Serena was a substitute teacher in the Chelmsford Schools for many years. After retirement, Serena and Dave spent their winters in Vero Beach, FL, where they enjoyed playing golf and spending time with friends. She was adored by her three children, David Jr. (Marylou) of Lowell, Susan (Chris) Regan of Andover, and Pam (Wayne) Johnson of Nashua. She was the loving grandmother of MacKenzie Johnson, Matt, Tommy, and Danny Regan and Kaitlyn and Bryan MacKenzie. She also leaves behind her dear brother Pete Sexauer and his wife Mary Margaret of Chelmsford. Serena was a kind and gentle person who treasured time spent with her family. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Serena will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. God Bless. Her funeral service will be held Friday at 11 AM at the Central Congregational Church, UCC, 1Worthen Street, Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment to follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
