Susan 'Suzi' B. Rogers Obituary (1938 - 2014)

Susan Suzi Barrows Rogers, age 76, a longtime resident of Chelmsford died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Peter L. Rogers, to whom she was married for 52 years. Suzi was born in Hartford, CT on July 23, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Carlton H. and Dorothy M. Barrows. She received her early education in the West Hartford, CT school system and earned her bachelors degree from Earlham College in Richmond, IN. Prior to her retirement, Suzi worked for many years as a preschool and piano teacher. She was an active and longtime member of Central Congregational Church, UCC in Chelmsford where she served on many committees and sang in the choir. In her free time she enjoyed traveling with the choir, knitting shawls for the Prayer Shawl Ministry, crafting, and spending time in the company of her loving family. She was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan. In addition to her husband, Suzi is survived by her son, Christopher Tripp Rogers and his wife Marlene of San Diego, CA; her daughter, Jill L. Rogers and her husband Mark Malenfant of Amesbury; two grandchildren, Wendy and Tyler Rogers of San Diego, CA; and a brother, Carlton H. Barrows, Jr. of Hartford, CT. It was Suzis wish that there be no visitation. A celebration of Suzis life will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00 at the Central Congregational Church, UCC, One Worthen St., Chelmsford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Suzis memory to the Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
