Thomas “Captain Tom” C. Cason IV Obituary (1966

Thomas Captain Tom C. Cason IV, age 58, a longtime resident of Hudson, NH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the cherished husband of Laura S. (Pelletier-Rousseau) Cason with whom he treasured 30 years of love, memories, and marriage. He was born in Lowell on August 23, 1966, son of Thomas C. Cason, III of Groton, MA and Margaret (Gray) Cason of Nashua, NH. Husband, Father, Friend, Captain, Leader, Mentor, these are the many things to describe the man that led this life journey, all of them leading back to a man who was revered for his kindness, compassion, generosity, and dedication to his wife, family, and friends. Tom, who was well known and loved as Captain Tom created a family, a business, and a dynamic life story. Son of Thomas III, he was mindful and proud of the weight that was born by a generational name. In turn, handing that name down to his son, Thomas V. Being a Cason was what he lived with honor and respect. Tom grew up in the Billerica and Pepperell areas, often riding his bike after school to help in the family business, Cason Saw and Tool in Lowell, founded by his father in 1974. He is an Alumni of Lawrence Academy where he forged lifelong friendships. Tom joined the family business after graduation, working tirelessly to build and grow the business, acquiring full ownership with his wife in 2004. Toms work ethic, determination, and tenacity are fully recognized by the successful businesses, Casons Equipment and Cason Power Solutions, which he proudly owned and operated with his team of dedicated staff of over 25 employees; one of his proudest accomplishments, with which he held the utmost gratitude and appreciation for the loyal patrons. He married his wife Laura and proudly raised 3 sons and 1 daughter; however, the number of people who call him Dad reaches far beyond those numbers. He was known to say to his wife at the end of a workday, How many kids do we have tonight? He provided guidance, support, life lessons and friendship to many young (and older) people over the years, opening heart, mind, and home to many and never turning away from a persons life challenges. He will be deeply missed by all his Kids. Toms story is one of laughter and smiles, a true belief that life really is good. To know him was to know the words life is good long before it was a catch phrase. Besides spending time with family and friends, his passions included all things boating. He is an accomplished boat captain, following his captain training with Master, Ton, and Towing Endorsements. Being on the water was his passion. He enjoyed sailing with his wife and family and moving sailing vessels with other captains from port to port in the US and Caribbean. He was a certified PADI Scuba Instructor. He pursued a Real Estate degree, using his knowledge to purchase, renovate and sell homes. He was working towards his Pilots License before falling ill. His interests were wide and varied, keeping most around him on their toes. He enjoyed restoring vintage automobiles, home renovation projects, traveling with his wife, playtime and cuddling with the familys beloved Springer Spaniels. The most important hobby he had was his family and friends. Everyone knew if a hand was needed, no matter the situation, he was a mere phone call away. Tom made a dynamic impression on the people he met, forging bonds of friendship that crossed states and countries. His laughter, smile, jovial and robust personality will be missed dearly, forever leaving a ripple in the fabric of the lives he touched. In addition to his loving wife, Captain Tom leaves his parents and his beloved children, Chloe Cason of Boston, Thomas C. Cason V, of Holiday, FL, Jeffrey M. Cason Rousseau and his wife Brandi Lyn of Wilmington, NC, and Daniel J. Rousseau and his wife Natalie of Hudson, NH; his niece Chelsea (Pelletier) Ahern and her husband William and their daughter Carmen of Concord, NH, and his sister, Debra Schuler and her husband Wolfgang of Portsmouth NH. Tom also leaves many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and countless dear friends and neighbors. Memorial donations may be made in Toms memory to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 1 pm 5 pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will be held privately.
