Vassilios H. "Bill" Giavis

Vassilios H. Bill or Billy Giavis, 38, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lowell on June 20, 1986, and was the son of Dimitri Giavis of Lowell and Jill D. (Zwicker) Giavis of New Bedford, MA.

Bill was raised and educated in Westford, MA. Bill worked in and around Boston, MA, with his most recent employment being in the construction field in Tewksbury, MA. Bill loved music, and he and his friends were involved in bands that played the Boston area music scene.

Bill had overcome addiction to opioids and was living clean and sober.

In addition to his loving parents, Bill is survived by his brother, Alexander Giavis (Nellie), Sacramento, CA and great aunts Eileen Crowell and Christine Faneros, uncles and aunts, Marc Giavis, Nicolas Giavis, Christopher Giavis (Maha), Alexandra Roark (John), Gary Zwicker, Lee Zwicker (Marie), Joan Dunleavy Gatzimos (George). Wendy Darragh, and Wayne Zwicker (Myriam), and cousins, John, Nicollette and Alyson Roark, Angelika and Alya Giavis, Shelby Zwicker Dona, Kristen Zwicker, Jazmine Gramer (Bill), and Alicia Darragh. Bill is also survived by many second cousins.

Bill was predeceased by his grandparents, Vassilios and Alyce Giavis and Homer and Dorice Zwicker.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 4 7 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. His funeral service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell. KINDLY GATHER AT THE CHURCH. Interment to follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell, MA 01854.
