Waldo W. "Skip" Chellis III Obituary (1952

Waldo W. Skip Chellis, III, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 19, 2024, after a short, hard battle with cancer. Skip was the beloved husband of Lorain (Allard) Chellis, with whom he shared 41 beautiful years of marriage. Skip was born in Lowell, on June 22, 1952, the son of the late Waldo W. Chellis, Jr., and Jean (Ennis) Allum. He spent most of his childhood in Chelmsford, and was known as a spirited adolescent who left his mark wherever he went. He had a special bond with his younger sister, Nita (Chellis) Paleologos, who sadly passed away just a year before him. Skip was involved in various trades within the construction field and was an ambitious, successful business owner of both construction and trucking companies. Skip is survived by his loving wife, Lorain, and their daughters, Heather (Chellis) Newman and Nicole (Chellis) Lena, as well as his daughters Cheryl (Chellis) Carter and Melissa (Chellis) Manning, his son Michael Chellis and daughter-in-law Maura Chellis, and their children Tyler, Alyssa, and Mason. In 1981, Skip met the love of his life, Lorain, and they were married on May 1, 1983. They raised their two daughters, Heather and Nicole, who now have families of their own. Heather and her husband, Ryan Newman, reside in Pepperell, with their children, Owen and Colbie. Nicole and her husband, Ryan Lena, reside in Chelmsford, with their children Samantha, Jackson, Alexandra, and Aubree. Skip took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow. His grandchildren always knew how proud Pop Pop was of them. Skip enjoyed sharing his love for music and classic cars with others, hosting family gatherings, and vacationing with those he loved. Skip also had many close relationships with his extended family members and friends, who were near and dear to his heart and who will miss him greatly. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, September 28 at 10am. Interment will be held privately.
