Walter J. 'Ducky' McDonald Obituary (1932 - 2014)

WALTER J. DUCKY MCDONALD, 82, of Chelmsford, and formerly of Lexington, passed away on September 4, 2014 at the E. N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was the beloved husband of Ann E. (Scott) McDonald to whom he has been married for 61 years. He was born in Boston on June 4, 1932, and was a son of the late David W. and Helen (Haynes) McDonald. Walter was a Veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. He received his early education in Boston Schools. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the Lexington School System for more than 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching sports and most of all spending time with his loving family. In addition to his loving wife, Walter is survived by his daughters; Jane Gennaro and Nancy Powers and her husband Matt and five grandchildren; John and Joseph Gennaro, and Katie, Molly and Matthew Powers, all of Chelmsford. He also leaves a brother Paul McDonald of Foxboro and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Walter J. McDonald, Jr., and brother of the late William, Mike, Charlie, Joseph, Robert, and Frederick McDonald. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Central Baptist Church, 9 Academy St., Chelmsford at 10 am on Monday for his Funeral Service. Interment in Westview Cemetery, 520 Bedford St., Lexington.
