William F. "Bill" Young Jr. Obituary (1933

William F. Bill Young, a longtime resident of Bridgewater and Holland Township, N.J., died peacefully at his home in North Billerica, MA on November 8, 2024 after a fulfilling life. He was 90. The husband of the late Kathe M. Kay (Seibert), he was a native of Union, N.J., and graduate of Union High School. After high school Bill worked at an auto body shop painting cars with a plan for starting a business. His career would take him in another direction but never lost his love of cars and driving, especially behind the wheel of his Mazda RX-7. Bill served in the Air Force and spent time stationed in the Aleutian Islands as an airman, working as a radio technician. Bill and Kay married in 1955. They lived briefly in Missouri while Bill was in the service before returning home to New Jersey, eventually moving to Bridgewater, where they resided for most of their lives. They were married for 63 years. After serving in the Air Force, Bill worked in electronics at RCA in Bridgewater. He moonlighted working for the Lutheran Brotherhood, where he developed the financial advisor and stewardship skills that would become his full-time work and passion, and lead to him starting William F. Young Associates. Bill received numerous honors for his work with LB, such as membership in the Million Dollar Roundtable, the LB District Representative Presidential Citation for Outstanding Community Service, and Lutheran Brotherhood Top Club Awards. His longtime colleague at LB, Mike Deemer, recalled that while Bill was a top sales representative nationwide, that was not what set him apart. His clients saw him as someone that they could trust. It was more about his relationships, Mike said. He was always in the top 10 in sales, but he was always No. 1 with his clients. Bill was an active community volunteer. He was most proud of his successful endeavor to save the Lutheran Camp Beisler, now the Cross Roads Camp and Retreat Center, in Port Murray, N.J. Sitting still did not sit well with Bill. He enjoyed skiing, tennis, gardening, travel and doing projects at his home, his childrens and his vacation home at Lake Naomi in Pocono Pines, Pa. But most of all Poppie loved visits with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, always highlighted by them sitting on his lap or playing a game with him. He also took great pleasure in celebrating German holiday traditions with family. Bill was particularly fond of chocolate and chocolate chip cookies. He was nicknamed candy man by his neighbors at Kennedy Meadows Retirement Community, where he left candy in a bowl outside his door throughout the year. He was known by residents as a gentleman, and they said they will mostly miss his sense of humor. All his friends knew of his love for his family and wish to reunite with Kay. Bill is survived by three daughters, Donna Young-Gorky of Berthoud, CO, Marlena Wilson of Wilmington, MA, and Linda Andreychak of Venice FL; his grandchildren, Kendyl and Tyler Gorky, Sean, Brian and Colin Wilson, and Nick, Kevin and Max Andreychak. He was also the grandfather of the late Brett Gorky. Bill is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and a nephew. He was the son of the late William F. Young and Josephine (Riehl), and brother of the late Raymond and the late Frederick Young. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bills life at a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 300 Union Ave., Somerville, N.J.
