Obituary for Alice Y. O'Neil (Belanger)
CHELMSFORD – Alice Y. (Belanger) O’Neil, 74, a longtime resident of Chelmsford died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Richard P. O’Neil, with whom she would have celebrated 53 years of marriage in June.
She was born in Belleville, NJ on July 13, 1939, and was a daughter of the late Albert and Helene (Poirier) Belanger. She was a graduate of Dracut High School, class of 1957 and had attended Lowell Commercial College.
Alice spent her life tending to the needs of her home and family.
She loved animals and in her free time she enjoyed working in the yard and spending time in the company of her loving family.
In addition to her husband, Alice is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Barbara O’Neil and Troy and Tracy O’Neil, all of Chelmsford; five grandchildren, Derek O’Neil, Alexa O’Neil, Lyndsey O’Neil, Megan O’Neil, and Patrick O’Neil, all of Chelmsford; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Annette and Albert Sutcliffe of Pelham, NH and Diane and Jim MacLeod of Merrimack, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 until 8pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 o’clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Alice’s name may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, MA Chapter, 29 Crafts Street, Suite 450, Newton, MA 02458-1287.
