Indira Devi Nayar, of Kottayam, Kerala, India, who also lived in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, and Lagos, Nigeria, wife of the late G.M. Nayar, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of May 28th, 2015. During her life, she was widely known as the matriarch of the family, as well as a dedicated teacher in English and Geography. She moved to Chelmsford, MA in 1998 to be closer to her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Devi Venugopal, her son-in-law Venu Venugopal, grandchildren Vivek and Arun Venugopal all of Chelmsford, MA, her sisters Vijaylakshmi Nair of Trivandrum, Kerala and Dr. Shyamala Kumari Nair of Kochi, Kerala, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in accordance to the Hindu tradition. Relatives and friends are invited to visit Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St, Chelmsford, MA 01824, on Saturday May 30th from 11:30am-1:30pm. This will be followed by a private family cremation ceremony in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to a charity of your choosing.
