Obituary for Ann Elizabeth Kirk

Ann Elizabeth  Kirk
Ann Elizabeth (Hansen) Kirk, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford and summer resident of Cobbetts Pond in Windham, NH, died on Friday January 15, 2016 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Arthur S. Kirk to whom she was married for 47 years.

She was born on July 15, 1942 in Lowell, a daughter of the late Rudolph T. Hansen and Emma G. Hansen.

She was a graduate of Chelmsford High School, class of 1960. Ann received her B.S. in Education from Lowell State College and an M.S. in Education from Northeastern University.

Ann taught in the Town of Westford for 39 years. During her career she served on many committees and was active in the Westford Education Association. She was a lifetime member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, The National Education Association and the Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Alpha Xi Chapter.

Mrs. Kirk was a lifelong member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church where she served as Church School Teacher, Director of Church School, Search Committee, Lay Eucharistic Minister, Thrift Shop Volunteer, Feeding Program Volunteer and the Pastoral Care Committee.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and watching the Red Sox and Patriots.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, David A. Kirk of Chelmsford; a brother, Marshall Hansen of Vermont; and a brother-in-law- and sister-in-law, Thomas and Gloria Kirk of Tyngsboro. She is also survived by many cousins and good friends.


Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation to be held on Wednesday January 20, 2016 from 3 until 7 PM in the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday morning at 10 o’clock in All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 10 Billerica Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
