Obituary for
Richard D. Harvey
Richard D. Harvey, 63, of Dracut and a native resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Thursday April 7, 2016 following a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of Marie J. (Ringwood) Harvey of Dracut.
Born in Lowell on June 29, 1952, he was a son of the late Claude A. and Esther L. (Smith) Harvey.
For many years, Richard worked in the Lumber Industry, first at his family business, Harvey Building Supply in Chelmsford and then for its successor, Moore’s Lumber for more than 25 years.
Richard was a very involved, 44-year member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks 2310, where he was a past exalted ruler. He was very proud to have been an exalted ruler following in his father’s footsteps, being the first father and son to have shared this role in Chelmsford. He liked to spend time at the Tyngsboro Sportsman’s Club as he had an interest in hunting. Richard was also a New England Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his step-children and their spouses, Christopher Kenny and Glory Lynn Silva of NJ, Steven and Deirdre Santiago of TX; Shawn and Maureen Kenney, Laura Kenney and Mike Gonsalves of NJ; his goddaughter, Shauna Ubele of Methuen; seven grandchildren, Steven and Jordyn Santiago, Brooklyn and Katelin Gonsalves, Michael, Annaleas and Cameron Kenney; two brothers, Charles D. “Dan” and Joanne Harvey of FL; Robert and Nancy Harvey of Chelmsford; a sister, Karen and Gary Dunn of FL; a sister in law and brother-in-law, Dottie Kenney of NJ and George Kenney of FL; many nieces and nephews. He leaves his beloved Dachshund, Brady Jones, who was always by his side.
He was the brother of the late Sandra Vaillancourt, Stephen Harvey, Claude “Jim” Harvey and David Harvey.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 until 8 PM at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD with an Elks Service being held at 7PM. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 242 Boston Road, Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
