Costas Niarhos
DRACUT- Costas “Takis” Niarhos, 83, of Dracut, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, September 30, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Stella (Kapetanakis) Niarhos with whom he shared 57 loving years of marriage.
Costas was born in Kalamata, Greece on April 23, 1933. He was the son of the late Panagiotis and Alexandra (Daharanis) Niarhos. After the untimely passing of his father, Costas played an integral role helping to raise his siblings.
Costas immigrated to the United States in 1957. He began his career working at a shoe factory in Lowell where he steadily progressed to manager. He later owned and operated his own restaurants. He was the Patriarch of his family and was very proud to be so. His love of family was greatly shown through his grandchildren, he was famous for his incredible fantasy stories. For many years Costas was a Member of the Pan-Messinian Federation. After retirement, he and his wife split their time between Greece and the United States visiting family along the way.
In addition to his wife, Costas is survived by his son Dr. Peter C. Niarhos and his wife Tina of Dracut; his sister Foteni Alexeas and his brother Peter Niarhos and his wife Stavroula both of Kalamata, Greece; his three beloved grandchildren, Alexandra, Jacquelyn, and Costas Niarhos. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Costas was predeceased by his sisters, Dina Booras and Soula Giannopoulos.
Visitation will be held on MONDAY, October 3rd from 4 until 8 PM at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford.
His Funeral Service will be held on TUESDAY, October 4th at 10 AM in the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1160 Mammoth Road, DRACUT. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
Interment to follow in Westlawn II Cemetery, Lowell.
