Life Story for Joan Pedersen

CHELMSFORD - Joan (Horton) Pedersen, 80, a resident of Chelmsford for over 60 years, died on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul E. Pedersen.

Born in Nova Scotia, Canada on August 5, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Albert E. and Evelyn (MacKenzie) Horton.

Joan moved to the US at the age of 18 where she met her husband, and settled in Chelmsford. For many years, she was a member of the Central Baptist Church, the Alpine Square Dance Club, and loved camping with family and friends. Prior to her retirement Joan was employed as a bank teller for Enterprise Bank and Trust and Central Savings Bank. Joan loved spending time with her family and Grandchildren and will be remembered for being a friendly, loving and caring person.

Joan is survived by her loving daughter, Linda L. Faulkner of Chelmsford, daughter-in-law Nancy Pedersen of Chelmsford; four grandchildren; Jason Faulkner and Christopher, Sarah and Rachel Pedersen; one great grandchild; Bentley Faulkner; two brothers, Fred Horton Sr. and his wife Kaye of Hudson, MA and LeRoy Horton and his wife Cheryl of Westford, and sister Dawna Vlahos and her husband Alec of Cheshire, CT, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Randy P. Pedersen, son-in-law Brian Faulkner, and brother Nelson Horton.

Visiting hours will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD.

A prayer service will be held at 7:00pm at the conclusion of visiting hours. Burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Joan's memory may be made to the Huntington Disease Society of America, HDSA/NE, 6 Courthouse Lane, Unit 12, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
