Obituary for Lillian B. Jacobus (Walsh)

Lillian B. Jacobus (Walsh)
Lillian “Lili” B. (Walsh) Jacobus, 89, a longtime Westford resident, passed away suddenly at home on Friday, February 17, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Roy W. Jacobus, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

Lili was born in Somerville, MA, on February 28, 1927. She was the daughter of Helen M. Forsythe and John Walsh.

Lili was a lifelong resident of Chelmsford and Westford. She worked as a secretary at several companies, married her husband Roy in 1969, and retired around 1975. She had a wonderfully vibrant, warm, caring personality that captured the heart of almost everyone she met, especially children, with whom she formed instantly strong bonds. She was a fantastic, constant mother for her three children, and gave them many happy times together. She liked to read, loved camping, and got great enjoyment from singing the huge number of popular songs that she had memorized. She was uncommonly attractive, and retained her good looks until the very end. In her last years, she took up walking in earnest, and covered impressive distances

In addition to her husband, Roy, Lillian is survived by her children, Charlene Hafner and her husband William of Merrimack, NH, Bonnie Deshaies of Pepperell, MA, Douglas Jacobus of Chelmsford, Rhea Walker and her husband, Timothy, of Taylors, SC, and Laura Kether of Austin, TX; two sisters, Margaret Vizakis of Newtonville, MA and Shirley Osborne of San Jose, CA; a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen Jacobus and his wife, Jane, of Lebanon, NJ; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Interment was held privately. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, at Central Congregational Church, One Worthen Street, Chelmsford, MA. Please do not send flowers. If you wish to honor her memory, please donate to your favorite charity.
