Obituary for Edward F McCarthy

Edward F. McCarthy, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He was 86 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Adeline (Guarino) McCarthy to whom he was married 62 years at the time of her passing in 2016.

Eddie was born in Chelsea, MA the youngest of thirteen children of the late Dennis and Mary Ann (Doherty) McCarthy. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School where he met his beloved wife Adel. Eddie served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. For a time he and his family were stationed in Florida at Eglin Air Force Base. The McCarthy family also lived for a time in Whitman and Medford, MA before settling in Chelmsford. Eddie was an engineer and designer and along with his wife owned and operated Kwik Kopy in Westford for 23 years. Eddie was a history buff and enjoyed following politics. More than anything he was passionate about his family and was a proud "Papa" to his grandchildren.

Eddie is lovingly survived by his children, Virginia Palazzo and her husband, Vincent of Belmont, Louise DiFronzo of Chelmsford, Catherine Hanam of North Brookfield, Eileen McCarthy and her husband, Frank Geshwind of Madison, CT and ten grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christa, Gregory, Alex, Robert, Jessica, Chloe, Michael, Lily, and Abigail. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his twelve siblings as well as his two sons-in-law Paul DiFronzo and Gerald Hanam.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday March 22nd from 4:00-7:00pm in the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 23rd at 11:00am in St. Mary Church , 25 North Road, CHELMSFORD. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH.

Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
