Obituary for Ruth E Young (Erickson)
Ruth E. Young (1918-2018)
Ruth E. Young of Chelmsford passed away peacefully at 100 years old, on August 8, 2018. She was the loving wife of 46 years to Ralph H. Young, Sr., who died in 1988, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.
She was the daughter of the late Ernest E. Erickson and Gertrude (Sherman) Erickson. She was raised in Milton, MA and graduated from Milton High School, class of 1936. She was a previous resident of North Haverhill, NH and wintered in Palmetto, FL.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Ralph H. Young Jr., and his wife Barbara, of Chelmsford and James E. Young of Pepperell; five grandchildren, Lauren Young and husband Neil Cumbie, of Lowell, Michael Young and wife Valerie, of Chelmsford, Travis Young of Billerica, James and Katherine Young of Pepperell; and three great grandchildren Charlotte, Jason and Brayden, as well as niece Diane Ashton of Norwell. She was the sister of the late Priscilla Ashton.
Ruth was an avid gardener known for her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She also loved to read and was always on the hunt for a good book, especially a murder mystery.
In accordance with Ruth’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Interment will be held privately.
