Condolence: To Jan and Family
I met John when I attended my first meeting of the Combat Infantrymen's Association at the old Officers Club at Fort Devens Ma. he greeted me with a big smile and firm handshake and welcomed me to the unit. A few meetings later he approached me to see if I would be interested in forming a separate Company of the CIA in Rhode Island. I agreed and he helped me get it going and attended the Inaugural meeting of Company A-1-1 NE/RI held in Providence. He also was very helpful in making the CIA Monument in the RI Veterans Cemetery a reality. He supported our unit and made several trips to our meetings and ceremonies held on Memorial day at the monument. I remember him taking charge of the flag lowering when I needed that function to happen as I read the names of our fallen brothers. All I can say is the world is a better place because of John and I am a better soldier having met and served with him over the years. I will miss his kindness and good humor that flowed so easily from him. On behalf of the entire Company A-1-1 in RI,please accept my deepest condolence and may GOD BLESS you and your entire family and may John Rest in Peace.I salute you.
Respectfully
Albert Guarnieri Jr.
Commander, Co. A-1-1 NE/RI

Condolence: Uncle John was a kind and good sprited man. When we had family outings he used his great sense of humor and quick wit to make you laugh and feel comfortable. He will be sorely missed!

Condolence: Jan so sorry for your loss. I remember when he would leave his house (while everybody was sleeping) to go to breakfast on Sunday with the guys, without telling anyone where he was going, just to be with the guys. You could see by his expressions that he loved doing that. A good guy, great soldier, missed by all. Rest in piece SSG.
