It leaves me deeply saddened to learn of the departure of my good old friend Dr. Krishnan. Our friendship started in the early 1960s, while working toward our PhD in the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. It grew stronger in the sharing of common hardships and objectives; both of us Fulbright scholars, far from our families and our countries, eventually graduating together at the end of 1963. The following August 1964, after attending together and presenting a paper at the Joint Automatic Control Conference at Stanford University, we undertook a cross-country camping trip back to Pennsylvania with stops in a number of National Parks, which, in the words of Dr. Krishnan and mine, has been the most beautiful and memorable trip of our lives. The memory of my good friend Krishnan will never fade from my mind. My heartfelt condolences go to his beloved ones.
